We have been a bit quiet for a while. Our silence was a focused, resilient and purposeful time to recharge and pursue our goals with tenacity. Many of you that have followed our journey since 2014, know that in the midst of the pandemic, we lost our first ever space. Our organization was able to grow roots in the Melrose neighborhood and after a great year we had to move out. That space that was so special to us, sat empty and unused for two years so we decided to do something about it.
This is when a great lesson was learned. Each time we drove by our old space we thought about what would happen if we emailed the owners and asked about it. This thought came with many doubts and insecurities. Why would they consider us? But we decided to email them after all and waited for an answer. This lesson, on the power of asking when in doubt or even when experiencing fear of rejection, helped us grow the most. Asking could be the first step in obtaining many blessings. You must ask to know, you just have to make a big leap of faith and ask. It happened to be that when we emailed them with a humble proposal to ask about the space, the answer, this time around in our journey, was YES!
BxArts Factory is pleased to announce the opening of their new space at 240 E 153rd Street, Bronx, NY 10451.
In 2019 BxArts Factory rented three studios at this same location but was forced to move out when the space closed in the midst of a global pandemic and lockdown. In an exercise of resiliency and persistence we reached out to the owner of the space when we realized that the space continued to be empty and unoccupied after two years. Our proposal was accepted so we are happy to now call our old space our new home.
BxArts Factory’s space has 11 studios that will be available for rent by local artists and creative entrepreneurs. The space will also include two shared-space studios for short-term rental. Additionally the space will have an art gallery and a meeting space. We envision a welcoming community space destination for creatives, artists and community members.
BxArts Factory needs your help more than ever to make this community space a thriving destination in our borough. If you are interested in renting a studio please contact us at info@bxartsfactory.org to receive more information. You can also support us by making a tax-deductible donation
