Meet the 82 Artists Who Made 187 Pieces of Art

Exhibitions

BxArts Factory would like to introduce you to the artists that participated in our 1st international small format art exhibition 12”x12”!!!!!

We are extremely grateful for their support and hope you join us in supporting them by purchasing their work on our Online Gallery to open on May 1st, 2015!!

The artists brought in unique work and represented different neighborhoods in The Bronx and adjacent areas; as well as some extraordinary work by international artists.

Some artists exhibited their work for their 1st time ever, others are well accomplished. Some have never shown their work in the Bronx, others created unique pieces just for this show! Mothers and daughters, old friends, new friends, old school, new school, artists of all ages, all in one show! This is a sample of the type of work we would like to continue doing with your help!

Please join us in celebrating the 12”x12” artists!

Remember that 40% of the sale price will go directly to the artists! We have already sold 13 pieces of work and we hope that with your help we sell more!  Your support on this fundraiser will not only help us get our cultural space up and running but also to jump start our programming to continue creating opportunities for the Bronx artists!

Each work of art is priced at an affordable $200. Payment plans are available. Please email us at info@bxartsfactory.org for further details. Online Gallery is open an ready for your purchases HERE.

12”x 12”
1 st BxArts Factory’s Fundraising Exhibition
APRIL 18, 2015 – From 5 to 10 pm
Location: Gun Hill Brewing Company 3227 Laconia Ave, Bronx, NY 10469

BxArts Factory is pleased to announce their first international small format fundraising exhibit 12”X12”.  The event will take place at the Gun Hill Brewing Company on Saturday, April 18th from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

12”X12” is a compilation of artworks created by renowned and up and coming international and local artists in multiple mediums.  We have over 150 pieces from artists in Mexico, Indonesia, Germany, Spain, and, of course, local Bronx and NYC artists!

If you don’t own a piece of artwork or if you are a collector, this is an amazing opportunity to buy some art.  You’ll also be contributing to the fund to renovate our, soon to be, space near The Hub in The Bronx! It is a win-win situation!

The BxArts Factory’s new space will be an incubator for Bronx artists to grow, collaborate and create.  We will be a multipurpose space that will include: an art research center, resident artists’ studios, performance space, classrooms and gallery space. The BxArts Factory endeavors to become a preeminent Arts institution in The Bronx, dedicated to the promotion and use of the Arts as a vital tool to inspire artists and communities within the borough to contribute to the social and economic development of The Bronx.  Help us reach our goal!

The evening will be filled with music, art, and a great vibe! Entertainment will be provided by local Bronx talents Elena Rosa Music, 2 in the Afternoon and Eve’s Fault, among other surprise performances.  Additionally, guests will be able to enjoy live art by local artists, caricatures by Kenly Dillard and Pablo D. Martinez, a selfie station, and many other fun surprises! We will also have local food truck Antojitos Mexicanos joining the festivities just outside the brewery!

Thank You: Closing Reception of Innuendos

Exhibition News, Exhibitions

This past April 1st our art exhibition came to an end with an amazing closing reception!  The evening was filled with great energy as our performers presented their craft.  Lorraine Currelley performed “A Poetic Narrative Birthed From The Stuff My Mother Gave Me” , accompanied by Jazz Saxophonist Sahji.
Sharon Lee De La Cruz and Rena Anakwe presented the multimedia piece titled A Manifesto Against The War on Mother Nature: Part One.  This performance explored the current state of humanity through a digitally rendered narrative utilizing: animation, video, original and sampled compositions and dance.

Anthony Rosado invigorated the night with his very powerful performance titled “mi mama me dijo to call for Universal Humyn Love in these united states of AmeriKKKa”.  This solo presentation is Anthony’s testimony as a queer man of color inherently afflicted by lies embedded in the Pledge of Allegiance. Following obstructed rebellion of the pledge, I divulge ways my mother taught me forgiving, unconditional love.

The artists’ panel was a superb discussion! We started a conversation with the community that we want to continue because issues like equality, colorism, roles, body, and womanhood are things we have to address. These types of conversations are necessary to start changing society’s views one person at a time. We are all responsible for continuing in the old paths or creating new ones. Women like Laura Alvarez, Laura James, Sharon Lee De La Cruz, Elena Bouza, Melissa Calderon, Melanie Gonzalez, Cinnamon Willis, Yelaine Rodriguez, Ijeoma D. Iheanacho, Yolanda L. Rodriguez and Yarisa Colon are examples of the brave women that use art every day to fight against the norm.

We were amazed at the support of an amazing audience!  We had a full house and many people were standing up!
Thank you very much to all that attended and those that came in the BCA Arts Trolley!

Thank you to the Andrew Freedman Home staff and support for all their help!
