BxArts Factory Logo Sculpted by Josue Guarionex
BxArts Factory is pleased to present the commissioned wooden sculpture of our logo, which was designed by Laura Alvarez. Done by the Bronx based artist, Josue Guarionex Colon, this three-dimensional reproduction of our logo reflects constructivism intersecting with the prospect of conceptual thinking to solve the complex challenge of sculpting an “artistic work” without interrupting the free flow and organic aesthetic of the materials. There is a great sense of presence and the suggestion of the contemplative and the active, seemingly co-existing in suspension and uneasy harmony. This interplay is realized with purposeful admixture of absence and presence through the vintage surface of wood and metal resulting in integrative evanescent, billowy passages of light. As a result Josue Guarionex Colon offers us a sensual play of dramatic structure contrasts that is both grounded and ungrounded, invoking the attainment of formerly hidden insights.
